The <aside> element can be used as a sidebar container, to hold content like external links, and material irrelevant to the content of the main section. It can also be used, to separate a section of a document, whose content is not related to the document's main content.

A good example to better understand the <aside> element is to use the container for advertisment material within a document.

Like most elements, the <aside> element helps search engines in their performance and accuracy of the content they are distributing.

Looking at the example below, you can see that the <aside> element is separating the document for what the author of the article sees as irrelevant to his article.
